| Bonnie
Lynn Ordus was appointed acting assessor in September of 2003. She
has been employed with the City of Dearborn Assessor’s Office
as a property appraiser for over 20 years. Ordus
began her career as a residential appraiser for the City in March
of 1986. She was later promoted to a commercial/industrial appraiser.
Prior to her employment with the City, she was the
assistant director of operations for EQUAL, Inc., a company responsible
for the mass reappraisal of the City of Dearborn in the 1980’s.
She obtained her Level Three Certification from
the State Assessors Board and her Personal Property Examiner Certification
from the Michigan State Tax Commission.
Ordus is the 2006 vice president of the Michigan
Assessors Association; has served from 1994-1995 as the president
of Wayne County Association of Assessing Officers and is a current
member of this association as well as the Southeast Chapter of
Michigan Assessor Association for which she served as president
from 1999-2000.
Her memberships also include the Finance & Taxation
Committee for the Michigan Municipal League, the Optimist Club
and the International Association of Assessing Officers
Recipient of numerous distinguished awards from
these associations, she is particularly proud of the Frank Moss
Literary Award from the Michigan Assessors Association for her
leadership role in establishing the Assessors Reference Library
and the 2000 Distinguished Service Award from Wayne County Association
of Assessing Officers. This award has only been presented five
times since its inception and honors significant contributions
made to the assessment field.
Ordus, a longtime resident of Dearborn, is married
to Walter, who is retired from Ford Motor Company. They have two
children, Joseph, 24 years of age and Michelle, 19.
She is actively involved in fund raising for her
daughter’s special needs school, which has resulted in purchases
made for their leisure and relaxation programs.
Time permitting, Ordus is an avid golfer,
bowler and enjoys fishing with her family and cherished friends.
