The Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive, a non-profit
Organization, has been in existence for well over twenty years. They
hold various events and fun-raisers throughout the year. The monies
raised are used to purchase toys and medical equipment for Children's
Hospital, Detroit Receiving, Oakwood Hospital Children's Unit and U
of M Trauma Burn Center. Shortly before Christmas, they visit each of
the hospitals, along with Sparky (burn drive mascot) and Santa to distribute
toys to the children. Additionally, they pass out food baskets to Dearborn
families in need.

The Burn Drive also contributes to the Dearborn
Goodfellows, D.A.R.E. Program, ACCESS, Just For Dearborn, food banks
and various other charitable organizations throughout the year. They
have purchased and distributed "Knox Boxes" for seniors and
the physically challenged, which allows easy access for fire/EMS units
during emergencies. As a demonstration of lifetime commitment to the
community, Dearborn Firefighters Local 412, through the Burn Drive,
were the first State Firefighters Local to create endowment funds at
Children's Hospital, U of M Trauma Burn Center, Oakwood Hospital (Dearborn)
and Detroit Receiving.
