Arabic Translation
WHEREAS, between 1992 and 1996, nearly 100,000
fires per year were purposely started by children under the age of nine
years old; and,
WHEREAS, the needless fires which juveniles
start threaten lives and jobs, damage property, businesses and homes;
and,
WHEREAS, fires purposely set by juveniles
are the most frequent cause of fires that kill children, and,
WHEREAS, many of the children who start
fires are angry, unsupervised, depressed, and sometimes abused; and,
WHEREAS, a timely referral by a concerned
family member, neighbor or friend can change the entire course of a
young child's life; and,
WHEREAS, many of the factors that contribute
to fire play also contribute to further behavior problems and delinquency;
be it therefore
RESOLVED, that I, Michael A. Guido, as Mayor
of Dearborn, do unite with the City Council to hearby proclaim February,
2000
JUVENILE FIRE SETTERS PREVENTION MONTH
in the City of Dearborn, and urge our residents to acknowledge, document
and report problems as a service to the community.
