Does the city provide senior citizen housing?
Yes, two programs are available.
- Low income to moderate income federally subsidized high rise buildings.
Townsend Towers, Kennedy Plaza, and Sisson Manor. There is only one
wait list for federal buildings. Once you have reached the top of
the wait list, you are offered the first available apartment (there
is no choice of building).
- Moderate income city-owned high rise buildings. Hubbard East, Hubbard
West and Clearwater Towers in Florida. Each building has its own wait
list. For eligibility requirements, call 943.2390.
Does the city provide Section Eight (federally subsidized)
housing?
Yes, three programs are available:
- Section 8 New Construction - Village Park, 28 Liberty Ct., a 152
unit multi-family housing complex.
- Section 8 Existing - vouchers, scattered site housing that
must meet HUD established "housing quality standards."
- Section 8 Handicap/disable vouchers
All programs have separate waiting lists. For eligibility requirements,

How long is the wait list for low-income housing for multi-family,
senior citizens, handicap/disabled citizens?
There are seven wait lists.
- Federally subsidized senior/handicapped/disabled high rise building
- City owned - Hubbard East
- City owned - Hubbard West
- City owned - Dearborn Towers/Clearwater, Fl.
- Section 8 New Construction
- Section 8 Existing vouchers
- Section 8 Handicap/disable vouchers
All waiting lists are structured and are based on the date and time
that applications are received and the priorities and preferences in
force. For status of the wait list, call 943.2390.
Where can I get information on landlord/tenant problems?
The Housing Department can provide two (2) publications on landlord/tenant
rights. The Housing Dept. cannot offer legal services.
What can I do about a housing discrimination complaint?
The Housing Department can provide you with the form needed to file
a discrimination charge with HUD.
Does the Housing Department compile a rental listing or homes
for sale listing?
The Housing Department provides a list of rental properties from the
local newspapers. New lists are available after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The Housing Department does not provide any information on homes for
sale. This information is available from a local Realtor or may be published
in the newspapers.
