Do I have to be a Dearborn resident to work for the City?

Residency requirements vary by position. If the position is covered by a union contract, the contract will identify the residency requirements, if any. A typical requirement may be to live within 25 miles of City Hall. Check with the Human Resources Department for specific information at 943-2053.

How do I find out about job openings?

Job openings are posted on a board in the west wing of City Hall just outside of the Human Resources Department, 4500 Maple. In addition, a recorded job line lists the openings at 943-2052.

Will I have to take a standard Civil Service test?

There is no "standard" Civil Service test as such. Testing can vary depending upon the nature of the position.

How can I become a volunteer?

Call the Human Resources Department and tell us what your interests are. We will match you with the appropriate department.
