(Crowley - Ford Field - Hemlock - Levagood)

Please call 313.943.2350 for current rates.

Rules & Policies

Picnic permits are required for use of designated picnic areas for groups of 20 or more. Permits ensure usage of a specific picnic area for a designated period of time. Deposit required at time of reservation. Balance due at least 30 days before scheduled event. All fees due at the time of reservation if less than 30 days from your event. In case of cancellation less than 30 days prior to usage, the deposit will be forfeited. Cancellation beyond 30 days will involve a service charge of $5.00.

The rental fee will not be refunded due to inclement weather. You will have the option of rescheduling your event date but it is dependent upon site availability. To reschedule an event you must bring your original permit to the Recreation Department within five (5) business days of your original reservation date. Upon final inspection of the picnic site by the Park Attendant, if the site is left in order, as described below, the deposit amount will be refunded in full and mailed to the permit holder within 2-6 weeks of the reservation date.

No person shall operate or park a vehicle in a park except in designated areas set aside for such vehicles unless directed by a law enforcement officer or recreation employee to do so.

Picnic tables will normally seat 75% of the people authorized for each site. Picnic tables cannot be moved from one picnic area to another. Violation of this policy will result in forfeiture of the clean-up deposit and/or eviction from the park.

DAMAGE AND CLEAN-UP AGREEMENT - The permit applicant is responsible for the placement of trash and debris of said area in designated receptacles. (Ord. No. 85-330). The permit holder also agrees to pay the City of Dearborn for loss of or damage to any property caused by said group at said park. (Ord. No. 85-330). Deposits will be forfeited if group size is greater than signed permit agreement. In addition, any group that violates the park rules and park agreements may be evicted from the park premises and will forfeit all fees paid.

*GROUPS ABOVE 200 - A special request form must be submitted indicating the date, time and size of the proposed picnic. Exact fee and deposit will be determined based on the number of picnic areas occupied, rubbish concerns, size of group, as well as, additional labor required by the departments of Recreation and Public Works. GROUPS ABOVE 151 WILL BE SCHEDULED ONLY AT FORD FIELD OR CAMP DEARBORN.

Resident - Resident picnic permit rates apply to all RESIDENT family, church and neighborhood groups and to DEARBORN-BASED business or organizational groups. Classes of school-age children DO NOT pay a fee for weekday usage prior to 5:00pm; however, a permit must be obtained from the Recreation Office.

Non-Resident - Non-Resident picnic permit rates apply to all NON-RESIDENTS, all NON-DEARBORN-BASED family, church, neighborhood groups, businesses or organizational groups, whether or not a resident sponsors them. Classes of school-age children DO NOT pay a fee for weekday usage prior to 5:00pm.

MISCELLANEOUS - Any miscellaneous request, such as using a large tent, moonwalk, band, DJ or dunk-tank in a picnic area, must be submitted in writing to the Recreation Department at least 30 days prior to the event. The use of a moonwalk or dunk-tank (if site permits) will be authorized only after the applicant furnishes proof of liability insurance for the specific date, time and location of the picnic with the City of Dearborn listed as "additionally insured." Additional fees may be assessed for electrical and water hook-ups.

SWIMMING POOLS - Picnic permits do not authorize the use of city swimming pools. Season passes and daily entry fees are available for RESIDENTS (with proper ID) and NON-RESIDENTS.

Refunds are not given for inclement weather or pool closures. Dunworth Pool will be closed from Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19 due to the annual USS Swim Meet.

The permit applicant is legally and financially responsible for the damage to or loss of any property and must remain on the premises at all times during scheduled reservation hours. The applicant must appear in person with original permit to make any reservations changes or alterations to permit (date, time, area changes etc.) Nothing will be held or changed over the phone - NO EXCEPTIONS.

SOUND ORDINANCE 85-330 § 10. 11-7-85 - No person shall operate or cause to be operated any source of loud or unusual noise in the park.
