City Plan can assist by reviewing the City's official zoning map. The City Clerk will provide written certification of zoning when required.
What is the procedure for getting my property rezoned?
The City Plan Department can assist with requests for zoning changes, which are submitted to the City Council, who then refers the request to the City Plan Commission for a public hearing and recommendation.
How do I go about getting my alley closed?
City Plan will provide a petition to be filled out by the resident and submitted to the City Clerk for action by the City Council. City Council will then refer the matter to the City Plan Commission for a public hearing and recommendation.
What new developments are taking place in the City?
In addition to City Plan, many questions regarding new development in the City can also be answered by the Economic & Community Development Department (943.2180) and the Building & Safety Department (943.2150).
How can I find out if a particular piece of the City-Owned property is for sale?
City Plan, in conjunction with the Legal Department determines whether a piece of City-owned property will be listed for sale. There are established procedures for the advertisement of City-owned property. City Council approval is required for the purchase or sale of any property by the City.
What is the City's Master Plan for a particular area?
City Plan can provide information concerning the Master Plan and future land use changes for the City.
Is the property in Detroit just north of Paul between Greenfield and Southfield going to revert back to Dearborn?
No. That portion of Detroit was never a part of the City of Dearborn and there are no future plans for it to be a part of Dearborn.
What other information does City Plan provide?
City Plan, in conjunction with the Building & Safety Department, can also indicate whether a particular lot is buildable and what the permitted uses are in a particular zoning district.
What Is Operation Eyesore?
Operation Eyesore is a City program for the removal of temporary and substandard structures. Complaints concerning tall grass, litter in yards, junk cars, and unsightly houses are handled by the Building & Safety Department.
