Human Resources, Valerie Murphy-Goodrich
Valerie Murphy-Goodrich has served as the City's human resources director since 1994. She is responsible for the personnel operations of the City of Dearborn, including employment, employee recognition, compensation, training and development, staff and labor relations, employee involvement and special projects, such as staff diversity training.
She is a graduate of Cabrini High School in Allen Park. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Before joining the city, Murphy-Goodrich served as director of human resources, and assistant to the Provost for planning for the University of Michigan-Dearborn for 10 years. Prior to that, she was manager of personnel services for the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, Connecticut.
Murphy-Goodrich also served as program director of Info-Line United Social and Mental Health Services in Danielson, Connecticut, which is a mental health information and referral service.
A lecturer in university-level public administration courses, she is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Michigan Public Employers Labor Relations Association and the International Personnel Management Association. She serves on the Board of Child's Hope and the Board of the Dearborn Rotary.
