After traveling abroad in her new role, the recently crowned Miss USA, Rima Fakih, returns to her hometown of Dearborn next week to reunite with the family, friends, and fans who helped her realize her significant accomplishments.

Preliminary plans for July 7 – 11 include a number of private events and receptions.  On Saturday, July 10 the City of Dearborn is hosting an opportunity for the public to meet Rima at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.

Starting at 10 a.m. in the Michael A. Guido Theatre, Miss USA will receive a key to the City from Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr.  She will then deliver an inspirational message specifically targeted to younger people about the path to reaching one’s goals.  That will be followed by a general  reception in the Hubbard Ballroom.

Both events are free but tickets must be picked up in advance from the theatre box office (313-943-2354).  The public is asked to request only the number of tickets they can personally use.

Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA 2010 on May 16. Since then, she’s been on a whirlwind tour making appearances in cities across the USA and around the globe, including China and Rwanda.  She also posts a video blog of her activities on www.missuniverse.com.

Next week’s visit marks the first time Rima will be back home in Dearborn since accepting her new title and new responsibilities. The City of Dearborn is justifiably proud of her accomplishments.

Ms. Fakih was raised with her younger brother in Dearborn. She is a graduate University of Michigan – Dearborn where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.  After completing her reign as Miss USA, she plans to attend law school.
