The Dearborn Police SWAT Team under the command of Commander Solomon of the Patrol Division, consists of 18 officers who all have completed a basic swat academy. The academy is an intensive 3 week school that teaches; team movement, weapons certification, tactical rappelling, building searches, use of less lethal force, chemical munitions.

All SWAT personnel are on 24 hour call. They practice on a bi-monthly schedule that includes sniper certification, MP-5 and handgun certification, shotgun and tactical shooting certification, rappelling and obstacle course certification, along with team movement and coordination.
