The Dearborn Police Bomb Squad under the command of Commander Solomon of the Patrol Division consists of four officers and one sergeant. Certified Bomb Technicians have all completed the six week F.B.I. Hazardous Devices School in Huntsville, Alabama. The school teaches; bomb construction and neutralization, explosive composition and chemistry, as well as robot and specialized equipment deployment. The squad has acquired a new bomb response vehicle, an explosive transportation trailer, bomb suits, and a robot at a value in excess of $500 thousand. This has all been achieved through Federal grant money earmarked for explosive mitigation at no cost to the City of Dearborn. The squad provides a very unique response capability and service to the citizens of the city and the entire tri-county area.

All Bomb Squad personnel are on 24 hour call. They train twice a month to include regional training with the Detroit Bomb Squad, Metro Airport Bomb Squad, Michigan State Police Bomb Squad, and Bomb Technicians of the F.B.I. and the Bureau of A.T.F.
