A fun-filled day of activities, food and socializing for area seniors
Dearborn area seniors, aged 50 and over, are invited to attend this year’s Autumn Elderfest, October 6, in the Hubbard Ballroom of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.
Hosted by the Senior Services Division of the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department, Autumn Elderfest features a variety of activities for area senior citizens.
This year’s festival, with the theme, “Wild, Wild West,” will get underway with a breakfast at 10 a.m.
Coffee and juice—sponsored by Henry Ford Village—and Dinky Donuts—sponsored by Oak Street Health—will be part of the morning meal.
Bingo—presented by Howe-Peterson, assisted by Dearborn Kiwanis—will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Popcorn and bottled water—sponsored by Judge Mark Somers—will be available starting at 11 a.m.
A variety of games—sponsored by Miller Vein—will also get underway at 11 a.m.
For more active seniors, the Fun Walk with Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr., will start at 11:30 a.m., preceded by 15 minutes of warm-up exercises, presented by DMC.
Live music, featuring George Ferguson—sponsored by Assurant Care—will begin at 11:45 a.m.
Lunch, highlighted by hot dogs—sponsored by the Exchange Club of Dearborn—and soft drinks—sponsored by Judge Gene Hunt—will be served, starting at noon, and conclude with ice cream, sponsored by Wayne County Commissioner Gary Woronchak, at 12:30 p.m.
Bar and Line Dancing will get underway at after lunch, followed by the Anniversary Waltz—sponsored by City Councilman Mike Sareini and the Dearborn Inn—which will begin at 1 p.m.
A Pinochle Tournament, conducted on the mezzanine lobby of the Michael A. Guido Theater and sponsored by Virginia Blow, will start at 1:15 p.m.
At 2 p.m., the winner of the Candy Guessing Game will be announced. Participants can enter this contest up until 1:30 p.m.
During the course of the five-hour event, raffles—sponsored by former state representative George Darany—will be conducted.
