Homecoming address

Dearborn’s 30th Annual Homecoming Festival is at Ford Field Park.
The address is 22051 Cherry Hill.
The park is north of Michigan Avenue, west of the Southfield Freeway.
It can be accessed from Michigan Avenue by going north on Brady, which is about ¾ miles west of the Southfield Freeway.

Homecoming Drive-In Movie

The Drive-In Movie is at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 at the bottom of the hill, near the Car Show.
It is sponsored by Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr.
On the screen will be Three Stooges shorts and American Graffiti.

Homecoming will celebrate its 30th year on August 7, 8 and 9 in 2009, made possible in part by presenting sponsor Detroit Medical Center (DMC)

Rick Springfield—
8:30 p.m. Saturday, Main Stage

Pop singer Rick Springfield, best known for the song “Jessie’s Girl” from his early career and as a star on the daytime drama“General Hospital,” is the headline act.

He brings high-energy and enthusiastic audience contact to every show, and Homecoming will be a rare chance for his devoted fans to see him for free.

He continues to perform around the country and to record new music, including his latest CD, “My Precious Little One: Lullabies for a New Generation.”

It will be his second performance in Dearborn. He starred at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in 2008.

Fireworks, Saturday and Sunday
Homecoming wouldn’t be Homecoming without spectacular fireworks on Saturday and Sunday nights. They are sponsored by BP/Armada Oil and Gas on Saturday and by B&K Collision on Sunday.

All your favorites and some new twists
Local favorite Fifty Amp Fuse will be the final act on Sunday night.

The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce’s Car Cruise and Classic Car Show return on Friday night.

This year, it will be accompanied by music from Larry Lee and the Back-in-the-Day Band on the Main Stage and, for the first time, an appropriately-themed movie on Stage B.

The Dearborn Community Arts Council’s Craft Show will take place on Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

And back again is the Living History Hill with historical re-enactors, musical entertainment, crafts, antique firearms, a high tea and more.

Back in 2009 is the Nickelodeon channel’s live stage show on Sunday afternoon.

And service clubs and charitable organizations will be serving food, beverages and beer from Labatt Blue once again.

Tribute to Ford Motor Co.
Still in the works— a tribute to Ford Motor Co., which is expected to have vehicles on display at the festival Saturday and Sunday.

Brand new to 2009—Guitar Hero
It is the sensation that can’t be stopped. New to Homecoming in 2009 is a “Guitar Hero” contest on Saturday and Sunday. Small fee applies.

Welcome back—pancake breakfast
A pancake breakfast by the First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn from 9-noon on Sunday, inside the Polish Tent, on the east side of the carnival.

Blankets on the hill—new rules in 2009
People can put their blankets on the hill after 8 a.m. on Saturday and after 8 a.m. on Sunday. All blankets must be removed by midnight both nights.
The size of a blanket is limited to no more than 8 feet by 8 feet to accommodate as many families as possible.

Carnival—$10 online specials (advanced sales only)
The carnival runs Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. All-day wristbands are $15. Other prices apply. Advanced sales of all-day wrist bands are $11 from July 6 through midnight at August 6 at www.wadeshowsinc.com
