Henry Ford Centennial Library (HFCL), 16301 Michigan Avenue, 943-2345.
Please note library policy. Program registration may be made by phone
or in person. Those arriving more than 10 minutes after the scheduled
program time may not be admitted. Child must be the required age on
or before the first date of the program. Residents and cardholders are
given preference.
Non-residents, without library cards, will be placed on a waiting list
and contacted only if a vacancy occurs. Individuals with disabilities
who require special accommodations, auxiliary aids, or services to attend
or participate in these programs should contact their local library
or (TDD 943.2193.) Reasonable advance notice is required.
Play Dates – Make new friends, or meet with
old ones, in this unstructured time to enjoy educational toys and
music in our program room. No registration is required. For ages six
months through 24 months. Esper Branch Library. Wednesdays, April
23 and 30, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Pocket Poem Challenge – through April 30.
Snow Branch Library. For ages five through 12. Pick up a “pocket
poem” at the library to take home and learn by heart. On your
next visit (by April 30), recite your poem to the librarian at the
desk and receive a reward.
Hello Truck! – For all ages. Wednesday,
April 30, at noon. Snow Branch Library. Children can climb aboard
and enjoy a visit with several big trucks parked at the library. Bring
your camera, rain or shine.
Preschool Storytime – Children can join
us for fingerplays, stories, songs and a simple craft. For ages three
through five. Registration is required. Registration for any of the
following programs begins two weeks before the starting date of the
program. Choose from these dates, times and locations: Tuesdays through
May 6 at 2 p.m. or Wednesdays through May 7 at 10:45 a.m. at Bryant
Branch Library; or Tuesdays from May 6 through June 24 at 1:30 p.m.
at Esper Branch Library; or Wednesdays through May 7 at 1:30 p.m.
at Snow Branch Library.
Tot Time – Registration is required. Children
with a caregiver are invited for stories, songs and fun. For ages
two and three. Snow Branch Library. Wednesdays through May 7 at 10:35
a.m.
Mother Goose Storytime – Snow Branch Library.
Rhymes, stories and playtime for the youngest ones (ages six months
through 24 months). One adult per child is recommended for this hands-on
fun. A session is offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2. Another
is offered on Monday, May 12, at 6 p.m. A series of sessions will
be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays from May 23 through June 13. Please
note that due to the program’s popularity, advance registration
is required to participate in the series of sessions that starts May
23. Registration for the series begins on Friday, May 16.
Storytime at HFCL – For children ages two
through four. Tuesday, May 6, 11 a.m. Children with a caregiver can
join us for fingerplays, stories, songs and a simple craft.
Super Sunflower Contest – Snow Branch Library.
May through September. For all ages. Show off your green thumb by
entering the library’s contest to grow the most super sunflower
in Dearborn. Beginning May 1, everyone is invited to visit Snow Library
and pick up a free sunflower kit. Give your sunflower tender loving
care and bring it to a fall plant exchange that will be held at Snow
Branch Library in September, where entries will be displayed and measured.
Prizes will be awarded.
Mom’s Photo Frame – Bryant Branch
Library. 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. For all ages. Use colorful
foam and make a beautiful frame to give to mom or grandmother.
Candle decorating – HFCL. 3 p.m. on Saturday,
May 3. For ages eight through 12. Registration begins Saturday, April
19. Decorate a candle to give to Mom for Mother's Day. We'll also
make a special candle holder.
We Love Mom & Grandma – Bryant Branch
Library. 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, or 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May
7. For all ages. Family storytimes with stories and songs that show
why we love these very special ladies.
Mother’s Day Craft – Esper Branch
Library. 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, May 8. For ages six through 12. Registration
begins Thursday, April 24. Make something special for Mom.
Book Swap – Snow Branch Library. Tuesday,
May 13, through Thursday, May 15, during regular library hours. For
all ages. Bring in some old favorites (in good condition) to swap
for “new” favorites. Paperbacks, hardcovers, board books,
and magazines are welcome. Limit of 15 per person.
Bow-Wow Craft – Bryant Branch Library. 12:30
p.m. on Saturday, May 17. For all ages. Come into to make a paper
dog craft and take home special dog bookmarks.
Garden Group – Esper Branch Library. 4-5
p.m. on Thursday, May 15. For ages five through 10. Registration begins
Thursday, May 1. Explore how plants grow and plant a seed to take
home to care for and watch grow.
Third Thursday Craft – HFCL. 11 a.m. to
7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15. Have fun making a springtime craft. Younger
children will need adult assistance.
Bugs, Books and Beyond – Bryant Branch Library.
7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20. For all ages. Dynamic West School Assemblies,
Inc., will be bringing out their collection of extremely large crawly,
creepy, creatures.
Rainbow Feathers Bird Club – Bryant Branch
Library. 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3. For all ages. Beautiful, exotic
tropical birds will be coming to Bryant Branch. Bird lovers and bird
owners talk of what these wonderful animals know and do to make our
lives wonderful.
Dad’s Photo Frame – Bryant Branch
Library. 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. For all ages. Dads love things
that "go.” Come and make this lovely "train"
frame to give a favorite photo in. Father's Day is Sunday June 15.
Summer Time Dad’s Day Gift – Esper
Branch Library. 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. For ages six through
12. Registration begins Thursday, May 22. Have fun making a gift for
dad.
Craft Event – HFCL. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on
Thursday, June 12. For all ages. Make a picture frame for dad for
Father's Day.
