Dearborn police remind residents to keep their
vehicles locked, with valuables out of sight, following recent arrests
The Dearborn Police Department reminds residents of the importance
of keeping vehicles locked, and valuables stowed out of sight, at all
times, following the recent arrest of three teenagers suspected of stealing
items from unlocked vehicles.
Dearborn police arrested a 14-year-old Dearborn resident and two of
his relatives who live out of state – ages 16 and 17 – at
about 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, in the area of Military and Michigan.
Investigation led officers to conclude that that the teens had entered
two unlocked vehicles on a nearby street and stole personal items and
computer equipment from inside the vehicles.
The individuals are charged with larceny from motor vehicle and curfew
violation. The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a dangerous
weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In Michigan,
17-year-old offenders are handled through the adult criminal justice
system.
