Keep parked vehicles off of the street during Public Service Days

Dearborn residents are reminded that they must keep parked vehicles off of the street during Public Service Days.

Be sure to remove parked vehicles from the street from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on your trash pickup day / Public Service Day. Failure to do so could result in your receiving a ticket.

A complete schedule of Public Service Days can be found at www.cityofdearborn.org or in the City Calendar. Street signs have been posted in every neighborhood telling which day is a Public Service Day for that neighborhood.

During the autumn, removing your parked vehicles from the road on Public Service Days allows city crews to collect loose leaves raked into the street more efficiently.

For more information about Public Service Days, call 943-2886.

HOW TO PAY PUBLIC SERVICE DAY PARKING TICKETS

Several methods are available to pay parking tickets, including those received for parking on the street during a Public Service Day. Note that parking tickets are discounted if paid within three days of being issued.

•ONLINE – Go to www.cityofdearborn.org. Look on the website’s front page in the Government section.

•BY PHONE – Call 1.800.272.9829. When prompted, enter jurisdiction code 7031.

•SECURE DROP BOX – Deposit payment into the secure drop box located inside the main lobby of the 19th District Court. Do not use cash with this method.

•BY MAIL – Mail payment to the 19th District court, 16077 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126. Do not use cash to pay with this method. Note that the court will accept a post mark showing that payment was put in the mail within three days of receiving the ticket.

•IN PERSON – Pay in person during business hours at the Court. If you choose to pay in person, it is advised that you wait until the day after the ticket was issued. A record of the ticket may not be in the court system until the end of the day that the ticket was issued. If you arrive at the courts before the ticket is recorded, there may be some delay in processing the payment, which could result in additional time spent at the court.

Call the courts at 943-2060 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for more information about paying parking tickets.

INFORMATION ABOUT PARKING EXEMPTIONS

In some specific cases, residents may not be able to comply with the no parking rules. To receive the application form to be considered for a parking exemption, visit www.cityofdearborn.org or call 943-2276.

Note that residents are required to provide documents and photographs as part of the application process.
