Greenfield bridge over Michigan Avenue
set for demolition and reconstruction
Bridge project will impact motorists over and under bridge
beginning Monday, February 25
Dearborn residents are advised that beginning Monday, February 25,
2008, stage one of the Greenfield bridge reconstruction project will
start with the demolition of the bridge. Traffic flow will be impacted
in this area.
On Monday, February 25 the east half of the bridge will be closed and
motorists will be able to use one northbound and two southbound lanes
on the west half of the bridge. Traffic going eastbound and westbound
under the bridge will be unaffected until March 1.
On Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2, contractors will demolish
the east half of the bridge and allow the concrete and rubble to fall
to the pavement below.
The following detour is in effect for March 1-2: Westbound traffic traveling
under the bridge will detoured up the westbound off-ramp, across Greenfield
and down the westbound on ramp back to westbound Michigan Avenue (US
12). Eastbound Michigan Avenue traffic will be detoured up the eastbound
off-ramp, across Greenfield, and down the eastbound on-ramp back to
eastbound Michigan.
After the weekend closure and detour, two lanes of traffic in each direction
will be maintained on Michigan Avenue.
The second stage of the construction project will begin May 29, 2008
and is scheduled for completion on September 1, 2008.
The dates and schedule may be subject to change based upon weather conditions
