Residents must shovel snow from fire hydrants located on their
properties
Dearborn residents are reminded that it is required for them to remove
snow from fire hydrants located on their properties. This allows firefighters
to access the hydrants immediately in the event of an emergency.
“It’s not something you may think about, but it’s
very important that residents keep the hydrants located on their properties
clear of snow,” said Fire Chief Nazih Hazime. “People should
be sure to check their hydrants after every heavy snowfall, and especially
after snow plows come through their neighborhoods.
“In a fire, seconds count, and we want to make sure that our firefighters
don’t have to take precious time to find a hydrant in an emergency,”
he added. “We’re asking residents to partner with the Fire
Department for safety, and make sure that the hydrants on their properties
don’t get buried in snow.”
