REVISED RELEASE—TIME
FOR EVENT IS CORRECTED TO NOON-5 P.M.
City of Dearborn to promote community
during The Big Open House on April 27
The City of Dearborn, along with its marketing campaign, WelcomeHomeDearborn.com,
will promote great features of the community to potential home buyers
through activities at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center (The Center) on Sunday,
April 27.
Dearborn’s activities are in conjunction with The Big Open House,
a four-county realtor event, from Noon-5 p.m. on April 27. The Big Open
House includes participation by the Dearborn Area Board of Realtors
(DABOR), which plans to have 150-200 houses for sale in Dearborn open
for tours that day.
Potential home buyers —and current residents—are encouraged
to stop at The Center during The Big Open House for a Community Expo,
and to pick up maps of Dearborn and of the houses for sale.
The City recommends that home buyers begin their day at The Center,
15801 Michigan Avenue, between Greenfield and the Southfield Freeway.
At the Community Expo, Dearborn will present information on its excellent
services and programs; recreational offerings, including Camp Dearborn;
its libraries, and its historical museum.
Also participating in the Community Expo are local service clubs, like
the Kiwanis Club Outer Drive, the League of Women Voters, the Dearborn
Rotary Club, the Dearborn Community Arts Council and the Dearborn Animal
Shelter, which will display pets for adoption that day.
The Dearborn Police Department plans to demonstrate its high tech bomb-disabling
robot and its popular K-9 (canine) unit throughout the day, as well
as offer the community and potential home buyers an inside look at a
police cruiser and information on crime prevention.
The Fire Department will also have a fire truck or ambulance on hand,
and offer important safety tips.
WelcomeHomeDearborn.com will be promoting Dearborn via demonstrations
of the website of the same name and other activities inside Studio A.
The City instituted the Welcome Home Dearborn campaign last year to
attract home buyers to Dearborn.
In addition, the Dearborn Public Schools will also be taking part in
the Community Expo, presenting information about its unique programs
and educational successes.
The Dearborn Historical Museum and the Arab American National Museum
will offer free admission on that day.
Other activities for the Community Expo are in the planning stages.
The Center will offer tours on April 27 so residents and potential home
buyers can see the extensive exercise area, climbing wall, two pools,
hot tub, double gym, the art gallery, club and party rooms, the Senior
Citizen Center and more.
Potential home buyers can qualify on April 27 for a free pass to use
the The Center’s pools and athletic areas on another day by visiting
a Dearborn house for sale during The Big Open House. Information will
be included in packets of information distributed at each Dearborn house
for sale on April 27.
The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce is working with the realtors to encourage
Dearborn businesses to have sidewalk sales and special promotions.
In addition, the realtors and the Chamber are partnering to offer “Community
Passports” to be stamped at different locations throughout the
City, which will qualify people for a Community Raffle.
Prizes include a family membership to The Henry Ford: America’s
Greatest History Attraction, Detroit Tigers tickets, oil changes, massages,
U.S. Savings Bonds, and more.
This is a unique opportunity for realtors to promote their listings,
and a chance for local organizations and businesses to work together
to support Dearborn’s housing market and remind visitors of everything
that Dearborn has to offer.
