Dearborn residents reminded about unacceptable
items for curbside pickup of yard waste and trash
Dearborn residents are reminded about the following rules regarding
unacceptable containers for curbside yard waste pickup, and the following
rules about unacceptable items to leave out for curbside trash pickup.
Yard waste in cardboard boxes or in plastic bags will not be picked
up. It must be in 20-32 gallon containers with a yard waste sticker
on the lid (available at City Hall), or in yard waste paper bags that
are available at most home improvement and hardware stores.
Residents are also reminded that the following items are not accepted
at any time for curbside trash pickups: propane tanks, car batteries,
tires and non-latex paint.
Latex paint which has been dried out, and the can lid removed, can be
put out for curbside pickup. To dry out latex paint, remove and discard
the can lid, and add sand or kitty litter.
Residents can dispose of propane tanks, non-latex paint and car batteries
at the city’s annual household hazardous materials collection
event, taking place on Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the
Department of Public Works (DPW) Yard, 2951 Greenfield Road (at the
second traffic light south of Rotunda Drive).
Residents cannot dispose of tires at the collection event.
