Reminder to Dearborn residents: yard waste cannot be in
plastic bags or in cardboard boxes
Dearborn residents are reminded that the City’s 2008 curbside
yard waste collection program is now underway. Yard waste can be put
out at the curb for pickup on your regular rubbish pickup day.
It’s important to note that yard waste in cardboard boxes or in
plastic bags will not be picked up. It must be placed in either 20-32
gallon containers with a yard waste sticker on the lid, or in paper
yard waste bags, available at most home improvement and hardware stores.
Yard waste includes grass clippings, weeds, leaves and shrub and brush
trimmings. Remember, do not mix fruit and vegetables in with your yard
waste.
When putting yard waste out at the curb (and remember, you cannot do
so before April 7), containers or yard waste bags should be set about
three feet away from rubbish containers and bags, and recycling bins.
Bundle larger bush, branches and shrub trimmings. Bundles should be
no more than four feet in length and weigh no more than 35 pounds. Branches
should be no more than four inches in diameter.
Unbundled or improperly bundled brush requires a special pickup. For
more information, call 313.943.2085.
