Dearborn Youth Theatre’s Scene Study
workshop March 29-May 3
Registration continues through first week of class

The Dearborn Youth Theatre (DYT), sponsored by the Dearborn Recreation Department, continues its teen acting workshops series with Scene Study, taught by William Premin. The workshop meets Saturdays from 3 to 5 p.m. from March 29 through May 3.

Cost is $70 for Dearborn residents and $80 for non-residents.

The workshop will culminate in the presentation of scenes on Sunday, May 11, at 4 p.m. in Studio A at Dearborn’s Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.

During the workshop, students will study various acting techniques in depth, including character development and stage direction.

It is the final workshop in a series of three offered for 13- to 18-year-olds at The Center. Designed to compliment school drama programs, the curriculum of the workshops expose students to acting, audition techniques, performance skills and the technical aspects of theatre, including stage design, lighting and sound.

Registration continues through the first week of class. Individuals can register by phone at 313.943.2354 or in person at The Center’s box office. The Center is located at 15801 Michigan Avenue (corner of Greenfield).

Additional information regarding Dearborn Youth Theatre’s workshops and other cultural arts programs is available by calling 313.943.2190 during normal business hours or by visiting The Center’s website: www.dearbornfordcenter.com.

The Scene Study workshop’s instructor has performed and directed in the Detroit Metro area for many years. With the Windsor Light Opera Association, some of Premin’s directing credits include Carousel, Mame, The King and I and Steel Magnolias.

While managing his own theatre company, Performing Artists Unlimited, he directed and acted in various productions including Come Blow Your Horn, Camelot and Brigadoon.

Offering new and exciting opportunities for area young people, the DYT strives to encourage creativity through acting while building the life skills of critical thinking and team work to instill confidence and self esteem.
