The Dearborn Police SWAT Team under the command of Commander
Geisinger of the Special Services Division, are comprised of 16 officers
who all have completed a basic swat academy. The academy is an intensive
3 week school that teaches; team movement, weapons certification, tactical
rappelling, building searches, use of less lethal force, chemical munitions.
All SWAT personnel are on 24 hour call. They practice
on a bi-monthly schedule that includes sniper certification, MP-5 and
handgun certification, shotgun and tactical shooting certification,
rappelling and obstacle course certification, along with team movement
and coordination.

In addition the S.W.A.T. also is our Honor Guard. The
Honor Guard performs at various departmental events such as the Memorial
Day Parade, honors awards, and city wide ceremonies.
