Dearborn offers many options for those who choose not to purchase a home, including short term corporate housing, apartment communities, student housing, senior and assisted living, and single-family home rentals.

Whatever the reason residents select to rent their living space, the City of Dearborn works to ensure that the property meets community and safety standards.

To assist in this, landlords are required to register their properties with Residential Services. Registration ensures that properties are inspected on a regular basis.

A Rental Housing Task Force, comprising elected officials, administrators, residents and landlords is working in 2012 to develop policies for landlords and improve the application of property maintenance codes.

Landlords and tenants should have a rental contract and know their rights and responsibilities.

Renters are welcomed to participate wholly in the life and activities of Dearborn.

Subsidized housing options are available, including Townsend Towers, Kennedy Plaza, Sisson Manor and Village Park. The City also administers the federal Section Eight subsidized housing program.
