Dearborn is proud to be a patriotic place of honor for our military. Our veteran-friendly community features a Blue Star Memorial Garden, Veterans Plaza, War Memorial and many parks and other public places named in honor of veterans.
Each year, our residents gather to commemorate veterans at public ceremonies on Flag Day, Veterans Day, Korean War Armistice Day, and Memorial Day.
One of Dearborn’s most important partnerships is with the Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council (DAWVC). That umbrella organization supports military members and their families from local chapters of the VFW, SUBS, POW, MOPH, RCL, VVA, DAV, AL, ACV, PLAV, AMVETS, CWV, MCL, 82nd AB and the Michigan Military.
The DAWVC, in partnership with the City of Dearborn, is responsible for the Memorial Day Parade and ceremony. It typically includes 80 groups, 2,000 participants and about 15,000 spectators.
